WHO IS THIS TREATMENT FOR?
This treatment is for anyone concerned with excess volume under the chin, commonly referred to as a 'double chin'.
APPOINTMENT PREP

Avoid blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for 48-72 hours before the treatment.

You may not be treated if you are pregnant or nursing, have difficulty swallowing, nerve injury or weakness in the lower face, or an infection in the area. Inform your medical provider if you are on blood thinners, or have had procedures or surgery of your lower face or neck.

Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 48 hours before the treatment.

Avoid consuming large amounts of caffeine before the treatment.

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least a week before the treatment.

Inform your healthcare provider of any allergies or medical conditions you may have.

Stop using any topical acne medications, Retin-A, or other skin irritants on the treatment area for at least 24 hours before the treatment.

Make sure to properly hydrate yourself before the treatment.

Wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing to the appointment.

Plan your procedure so that you can have 4 full days before returning to work or important social engagements.

Have Tylenol and Zyrtec (an antihistamine) available at home for discomfort and itching that may result from the procedure.

Arrive to the appointment with clean skin, free of any makeup or skincare products.
AFTER APPOINTMENT

Apply ice packs to the treated area for 15-20 minutes at a time, as needed, to reduce swelling and discomfort.

Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Avoid strenuous exercise or physical activity for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least a week after the treatment.

Avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Avoid blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for at least a week after the treatment.

Avoid taking hot baths or showers for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Avoid applying any makeup or skincare products to the treated area for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Follow any additional post-care instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

It's important to note that swelling, bruising, and redness are common side effects of Kybella treatment and may last for several days after the treatment. If you experience any severe or unusual symptoms, such as fever or infection, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

WHAT IS SUBMENTAL FULLNESS?
Submental fullness is a gathering of excess fat beneath the chin, commonly known as “double chin.” It can be something you’ve had your whole life due to genetics, or start to appear as you get older or if you gain weight.
WHAT IS KYBELLA®?
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine and is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.”
It is not known if KYBELLA® is safe and effective for use outside of the submental area or in children less than 18 years of age.
HOW DOES KYBELLA® WORK?
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, and once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED
Your specialist will create a tailored treatment plan based on your chin profile. At each treatment, you will be given multiple small injections under your chin. You may receive up to 6 treatment sessions, spaced at least 1 month apart. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 KYBELLA® treatments. 59% of patients received 6 treatments in clinical studies.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
KYBELLA® can cause serious side effects, including injection site problems such as bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), and damage and tissue cell-death (necrosis) around the injection site or trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. In clinical studies, nerve injury in the jaw resolved on its own in a median of 44 days (range of 1 to 298 days), and trouble swallowing resolved on its own in a median of 3 days (range of 1 to 81 days).
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. These are not all of the possible side effects of KYBELLA®. Call your healthcare provider if you develop open sores or drainage from the treatment area or for medical advice about side effects.
HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?
When injected into fat under the chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired aesthetic, further treatment is not expected.
